VR porn subscription prices, 2016–2026: cheaper than a decade ago, if you ignore the discount badge

This started about a month ago, over a beer. Someone asked whether VR porn was cheaper now or a few years back, and the table split down the middle. We argued from memory, quoting what we had paid last year and the year before, and the longer it went on the less anyone could prove. Between us we had looked at more join pages than we could count, and that was exactly why nobody could settle it.

In the end the table reached the only verdict it could agree on: stop guessing and dig up the real numbers. What began as settling an argument grew into the biggest piece of work on this site so far, ten years of join pages read one copy at a time.

Here is what we found. Over ten years the price of a year of VR porn has barely moved, and after inflation it has fallen. In March 2016 a year on VR Bangers cost $99.99. Today the same studio charges $83.40, which is $87 in today's money against $143 then. Two things did change a great deal: how much you get for that money, and how hard the join pages work to make the price look like a bargain.

We pulled 61 copies of the join pages of seven sites from the Internet Archive, from January 2016 to October 2026, and read the prices on each one. Every figure below links back to the archived page it came from. How we did it, and what we left out, is at the end of the article.

A year of access costs less than it did in 2016

The chart shows the cheapest yearly plan each site offered on the day the archive saved its join page, converted to September 2026 dollars with the US consumer price index for wage earners (CPI-W). Prices rose about 43% across the economy between January 2016 and September 2026, so a plan that kept the same sticker price for ten years has become 30% cheaper in real terms.

The overview hides how differently each site got there. Here are the same numbers one site at a time, on the same scale:

Read across the panels and the pattern holds for every site with a long record:

• VR Bangers charged $99.99 for a year in 2016, a flat $100 in 2019 and $83.40 today. That is 17% less on the sticker and about 39% less after inflation.
• BaDoinkVR went from $69.95 in January 2016 to $90 now. The sticker rose 29%, which still leaves it about 6% cheaper in real terms.
• WankzVR and VRCosplayX both moved from roughly $70–80 a year in 2017 to $90–100 now. In dollars that is a rise of about a quarter; once inflation is counted, both are 6–8% cheaper.
• POVR shows the steepest fall. In October 2020 the yearly plan cost $179.88; since late 2023 it renews at $99.95. In real terms that is 56% cheaper.

VRPorn.com breaks the pattern, though only a little. It launched its Premium plan in February 2018 at $24.99 a month with no yearly option at all, and from 2019 to early 2022 its yearly plan cost between $89.95 and $95.40. Two archive copies stand out: December 2022, when the yearly plan briefly cost $179.40, and today, when its limited-time Halloween offer is $9.95 a month, or $119.40 a year. In January 2026 the same plan was advertised at $7.95 a month. On these numbers it currently has the most expensive yearly plan of the seven.

Month-to-month crept up to $25, and still fell in real terms

The monthly price is where buyers notice inflation. In 2016 the standard figure was just under $20: $19.99 at VR Bangers and WankzVR, $19.95 at BaDoinkVR. Today it clusters around $25: $24.95 at VRPorn.com and POVR, $26.99 at SexLikeReal, and WankzVR's monthly plan renews at $24.95. VR Bangers is still at $19.95.

$19.99 in 2016 is about $28.60 in today's money, so even the $24.95 plans are around 13% cheaper than a 2016 month was. What did change is how the monthly plan is sold. Since 2019 BaDoinkVR and VRCosplayX have mostly advertised a $9.95 first month that then renews at the full monthly price.

Why the crossed-out price keeps rising

The number that grew fastest on these pages is the one nobody pays. Most join pages print a "regular" price struck through next to the offer, and over the decade those reference prices drifted far away from anything the sites actually charged.

BaDoinkVR is the clearest case, because the archive saved its join page almost every year. In January 2016 its yearly plan cost $69.95 against a crossed-out $99.95, a 30% discount. By April 2019 the same plan cost $90 against a crossed-out $35.45 a month, which is $425 a year. From December 2023 to March 2025 the crossed-out yearly price was $299.50. The price paid in all those years stayed between $70 and $90.

Other sites took the same road by different routes:

• Per-day pricing. From 2018 VR Bangers showed its plans as a cost per day, and by 2023–2024 VRPorn.com, POVR and WankzVR did the same. From December 2022 to at least January 2025 VRPorn.com set its day rate against a crossed-out "$2.00 a day". Two dollars a day is $730 a year, more than seven times the $94.90 its yearly plan cost in 2023–2025.
• Lifetime reference prices. WankzVR's lifetime plan was offered at $375 with no comparison in 2020. In 2022 the same kind of plan appeared against a crossed-out $1,000, and from 2024 against $1,500. VRPorn.com has shown $1,499 struck through next to its lifetime plan since at least January 2023.
• Bigger percentages. The advertised discounts were below 40% in 2016–2018 and reached up to 87% in 2023–2025, while most yearly plans kept costing between $70 and $100.

None of this changes what you pay, but it does mean the size of the discount tells you almost nothing. The only figures worth comparing are the price charged today and the price the plan renews at.

Lifetime plans settled at about three years of the yearly plan

Lifetime access first appears in our archive copies in January 2020, as a $299.95 Christmas offer on BaDoinkVR. By late 2020 WankzVR sold one for $375. Prices have wandered since, from $199.95 to $449.95, and most sites now sit close to $300:

VRPorn.com's lifetime plan cost $449.95 in 2023 and 2024; at $299.95 it is a third cheaper now. Whether lifetime is good value is a bet on two things: that you will still want the same site in three years, and that the site will still be running.

The library grew much faster than the price

While prices stood still, the catalogues behind them grew by an order of magnitude. When VRPorn.com launched Premium in 2018, press coverage described hundreds of videos from 25 studios. Its join page claimed 15,000+ in January 2023 and 47,000+ in October 2026. POVR went from 2,100+ in 2020 to 31,500+ today.

Divide the yearly price by the library each site claimed on the same day and the cost of content falls steeply.

A year on POVR cost $85.66 per 1,000 claimed videos in October 2020 and $3.17 in October 2026, about 27 times less. VRPorn.com fell from $6.33 per 1,000 in January 2023 to $2.54 now. These figures depend on how each site counts a "video", which differs between sites and sometimes changes overnight; we looked at that in detail in what the library numbers on the join pages really show. The direction is not in doubt even where the exact level is.

The free headset years

One perk has gone completely. In 2016 and 2017 VR Bangers gave a free headset with its yearly plan, and BaDoinkVR, VRCosplayX and WankzVR bundled free goggles or a Google Cardboard into their plans; on BaDoinkVR and VRCosplayX the Cardboard was still listed in early 2023. They were phone holders, useful when most people watched VR on a smartphone. Standalone headsets made them pointless, and none of the join pages we checked from late 2023 onwards mentions one.

So who won the argument?

Both halves of the table, in a way. The ones who said it used to be cheaper were remembering real numbers: on most sites the price in dollars did go up, and a month now costs about $25 where it used to cost $20. The ones who said it is cheaper now were right about what matters more. After inflation, a year of access costs less than it did a decade ago, and it buys a library many times larger. Nobody at the table had guessed how much of the "discount" on those join pages was decoration.

If you are choosing a membership now

The decade of data supports a few plain conclusions. Buy the yearly plan and ignore the discount badge. Check the renewal price, which is usually printed in the page footer. And compare the studios inside each membership rather than the headline library size.

How we built this dataset

We listed every copy of each site's join page that the Internet Archive holds from 2016 onwards, read up to two copies per year (the first and the last saved), and kept the 61 that carried readable prices. For POVR and SexLikeReal we added our own checks of the live pages on 27 and 28 October 2026; for the other sites the latest figures come from archive copies saved between August and October 2026. For each page we recorded the month-to-month price, the cheapest yearly plan, the lifetime price, any crossed-out reference price and any library size printed on the page.

A few rules shaped the numbers:

• Yearly cost is what twelve months cost on the cheapest yearly plan that day. Where a page showed a monthly rate for the yearly plan we multiplied it by 12, where it showed only a price per day we multiplied it by 365, and where it stated a renewal price we used that instead.
• Real prices use the BLS consumer price index for urban wage earners (CPI-W), January of each year, against September 2026, the latest month published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The general CPI-U gives almost the same result.
• Left out: SexLikeReal's join page has archive copies only from October 2025; the older /premium pages we found in the archive (2019–2020) show a credit top-up rather than plans. VR Smash and, from 2020 to late 2024, VR Bangers load their prices by script, so the archived pages carry no figures. VRPorn.com's 2018 Premium launch details come from press coverage at the time.
• Seasonal offers are recorded as shown, so a Black Friday or Halloween price counts if that was the price on the day the archive saved the page. We mark the ones we noticed in the dataset.
