VR porn not working? Fixes for the common problems

Most VR video problems come down to four things: Wi-Fi, the video format, the player, or how the headset sits on your face. Find your symptom below.

Stuttering or buffering

  • Pick a lower resolution. 6K streams far more easily than 8K, and on a Quest 2 or 3S it looks almost the same. See 8K vs 4K.
  • Fix the Wi-Fi. Use the 5 GHz or Wi-Fi 6/6E band, stay in the same room as the router, and pause other downloads.

The picture is blurry

  • Adjust the fit first. Move the headset up and down on your face until the centre is sharp, and set the lens spacing (IPD) to match your eyes.
  • Check the resolution you picked. Sites often start streams at a lower quality; choose the highest your Wi-Fi handles.
  • Clean the lenses with a dry microfibre cloth.

The image is doubled, split or flat

The player is using the wrong format. VR scenes are usually 180° side-by-side (SBS); some are top-bottom or 360°.

  • In a VR player, open the format or projection menu and choose 180° SBS (or what the site lists for that scene).
  • In the browser, make sure you pressed the VR or headset button in the site's player, not plain full screen.

Black screen or the scene will not open in VR

  • Reload the page and press the VR button again; browsers sometimes lose the VR session.
  • Log in again. Premium scenes show only a trailer, or nothing, when your session has expired.
  • Allow the VR prompt. The headset browser asks permission to enter VR; if you dismissed it, reload and accept.
  • Downloaded file? Check that it finished downloading and is in the headset's Movies or Download folder.

No sound

Check the headset volume, then the player's own volume, then that no Bluetooth headphones are still connected.

AR scenes show a black background

Your headset needs colour passthrough and the player needs AR mode switched on. On a Quest 2 or PS VR2, AR does not work well at all. See the best AR and passthrough sites.

Why does VR porn look blurry?

Usually the headset fit or lens spacing, or a low streaming resolution. Adjust the headset until the centre is sharp, set the lens spacing, and pick a higher resolution or download the scene.

Why is the VR video doubled or split in two?
